Research

My research unites topics from Personality Psychology with topics from Developmental Psychology. I study how people construct meaning of important life events in the stories that they share with others. I tend to focus on narration of negative life events like stressors and adversity, and turning point memories in adolescence and emerging adulthood because research shows that such events are important to identity and that identity is an important developmental project during those years. Furthermore, how we make sense of such events matters for memory development and well-being. My work will also include element of psychophysiology to understand how narration is enacted in the body.
