Out-of-the-Classroom Learning
Field experience is a fundamental component of teaching and research in the sciences at F&M. You鈥檒l have opportunities to immerse yourself in fieldwork as part of science courses, as well as collaborative and independent research, internships and even weeks- or weekend-long departmental field excursions with faculty and other students to places like Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Grand Canyon, Florida Keys, and Death Valley.
Careers in the Sciences
After graduating from F&M, many of our students pursue advanced degrees and cutting-edge research at leading programs around the world. Other students leverage the skills they've gained from the sciences 鈥� the ability to reason, analyze data, and understand scientific methodology among others 鈥� and find success in careers in medicine, healthcare, law, government, finance, software development, information technology, engineering, education, and much more.

鈥業 Fell in Love With Helping Others Through Dentistry鈥�
Pre-dental student Lily Murphy 鈥�26 has always loved working with kids, but she wasn鈥檛 sure what that would look like in dentistry. This summer, she found her niche by gaining hands-on experience in pediatric dentistry. 鈥淢ost children fear the dentist, so it鈥檚 important to take the time to make sure they are calm and feel safe,鈥� she said.
